Ladder Bookcase

I can never pass up a good deal,
especially if it's a $10 antique ladder!
I knew the ladder obviously was in need of
a new coat of paint, but I hadn't
gotten around to painting it until today.
We had perfect weather,
I had a new camera I wanted to try out,
and my mom had just painted my room
while I was recovering from my surgery
for the past two weeks. I couldn't resist starting
to decorate my newly redone room.

This is what the ladder looked like before.
Since my walls in my room are now white
I knew that I wanted to make the ladder pop and add color.
My mom and I found some "oops paint" at Walmart that I fell in love
and it was only $5 for the gallon,
so I thought it would be perfect for my ladder.
I decided to make it into a chalk paint,
so that it would adhere to the ladder better
and I could distress the ladder to add character.
I gathered my supplies and followed the recipe
from my past blog post on how to make your own DIY Chalk Paint
Once I had fully coated the ladder,
I distressed my ladder with sand paper.
I sealed the chalk paint with Annie Sloan's Clear Wax.
I wanted to have a cute way to display everything in my room,
so I decided to use my ladder as a bookcase.
It now houses some of my favorite antiques,
and looks great next to my newly white walls.

Thank y'all for reading,
Lindsey
